The Fort Kumasi & Armed Forces Museum

History has it that the Kumasi Fort originally built in 1820 by the Asantehene and rebuilt in 1897, after it was destroyed by British forces in 1874. One of the most historic happenings at the fort was the rebellion of 1900 lead by the great Queen mother of Ejusu, Yaa Asantewaa where 29 Britons were trapped in the fort for several weeks. This Museum has some war items used in the 1900 British-Asante war and the World War II among others . Take time to visit this historic site anytime you are in Kumasi.
